Oaxaca de Juárez.- Governor Layda Sansores San Román participated this Wednesday in the Sixth Extraordinary Meeting of the National Conference of Governors (CONAGO) that took place in this city, and in which the ambassador of the United States in Mexico, Ken Salazar highlighted the work carried out by the governments of four entities in the field of renewable energy, including Campeche.

 In fact, Campeche is the only entity in the Peninsula that stands out for its work in the field of renewable energy, since the other entities given as an example by the US ambassador and by John Kerry, the US government’s emissary against Climate Change, are Veracruz, Tamaulipas and Baja California. 

Ken Salazar had deferences for the Campechana governor whom he will accompany tomorrow on a visit to the photovoltaic park «La Pimienta», because she told him that «thanks to her leadership there is this 350 megawatt solar plant, which is very important».

 Both US officials praised the federal Sembrando Vida program and highlighted the work of the country’s governors on clean energy and the environment, particularly the Sonora Plan and the Tehuantepec Isthmus Interoceanic Corridor in Oaxaca. Before the Oaxacan president, Salomón Jara Cruz and the governors, including Layda Sansores San Román and the head of the CDMX Government, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, and even the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López, Salazar and Kerry recognized the greatness of Mexico and the binational relationship that both countries maintain, hand in hand with presidents Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Joe Biden.

 “You have made a lot of progress with the Sonora Plan and Governor Durazo on the Isthmus, the Trans-Isthmic Corridor and the wind farms proposed by the President are exemplary; They are good projects and we are going ahead to see what can be done”, stated Ambassador Salazar. 

«In the United States we do not see the issue of renewable energy as something partisan, Democrat or Republican, but as something of importance to the whole world and that is why we work with everyone,» said the diplomat.

 In his speech, the president of CONAGO, Salomón Jara Cruz, said that this meeting is a space for dialogue and concertation that reflects the political plurality and social diversity of the country and in which issues of common interest and of the current moment are discussed. history of friendship and cooperation between Mexico and the United States. 

«The friendship between our peoples has historical roots, Juárez and Lincoln are the best examples that the communion of principles and purposes should always be above differences and grievances, for this reason we endorse our commitment to dialogue, cooperation and responsibility shared as a formula to face common challenges”, he stressed. He stressed that «this situation is characterized by the interest of our governments to promote the defense of the environment, sustainable development and well-being of the South-Southeast of Mexico.» At the end of the CONAGO meeting, the governors of Mexico, as well as the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López, held the Fourth National Security Meeting. Ambassador Ken Salazar will visit the «La Pimienta» photovoltaic park tomorrow on a working tour of the southern state of Campeche accompanied by Governor Sansores San Román, who has led a coordinated work strategy with state institutions since the beginning of her administration , federal and armed forces for the protection and preservation of the forests.
