EMITS SECULT ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE XIV INTERNATIONAL POETRY PRIZE IN MAYAN LANGUAGE «WALDEMAR NOH TZEC» 2020

The Executive Power of the State of Campeche, through the Secretariat of Culture (SECULT) and the Calkiní City Council, summon the XIV International Prize for Poetry in the Mayan Language «Waldemar Noh Tzec» in which resident or native writers of Mexico may participate. , Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, in one of the main competitions that seeks to spread the magnificence of the Mayan world.

This award is a contest carried out with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico through the Support Program for State Institutions of Culture (AIEC) seeking to enhance the importance and significance of Mayan culture in the world, where interested parties can participate with an unpublished work of poetry, written in a bilingual version (Spanish and Mayan), with a minimum length of 30 pages and signed with a pseudonym.

The works will be delivered spiral binding, written in Times New Roman at 12 points, on one side, on letter-size sheet and double spaced, added to the personal data that can be consulted in the full call through the page www.culturacampeche. com and should be sent to the Directorate of Education, Culture and Sports of the H. Ayuntamiento de Calkiní at Calle 20 No. 93 between 15 and 17, Col. Centro, CP 24900. Calkiní, Campeche.

The present annoucement is made with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico through the Support Program for State Institutions of Culture (AIEC) and will remain open from Friday, August 28, until October 2, 2020 at 9:00 p.m.

In the case of works sent by mail, those whose date on the postmark is prior to the closing of the call will be accepted, provided they are received at the indicated address.

The qualifying jury will be made up of writers of recognized prestige and their decision will  be unappealable; The winning work will be published in the local and national press in November 2020, as well as on the websites of the Secretary of Culture and the Calkiní City Council.

The award ceremony will take place on November 30, 2020 within the framework of the Calkiní Annual Fair, or in the circumstances that the convening institution determines according to the information provided by the health authorities on the occasion of the COVID-19 Contingency. The winner will receive a prize of $ 25,000.00 (twenty-five thousand pesos MXN) in addition the publication of the work.
