The night of this Tuesday, the plane «Missionary of peace» landed in Mexico City; It arrived from Shanghai, China, with the first shipment of medical supplies that the Mexican government purchased to deal with the coronavirus.
Flight 9835 that took off from Shanghai contains about 10 tons of supplies and surgical supplies.
Through Twitter, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard thanked the undersecretary of Foreign Relations, Martha Delgado, who was present at the delivery-reception of the acquired medical equipment, in coordination with the Mexican embassy in China and the consulate in Shanghai.
In this shipment, 1,184 boxes were brought with 10.1 tons of KN95 examination gloves and masks, essential products in the treatment and care work of the COVID-19.
The protection equipment will be distributed among the various federal Health institutions and with the support of the Secretary of National Defense and the Secretary of the Navy, the corresponding supplies will be sent to the Health secretariats of the 32 states.
During tonight’s conference at the National Palace, Dr. López-Gatell assured that this first flight is part of an «airlift» to bring the necessary supplies to Mexico to protect medical personnel in the first line of defense against the coronavirus.
