Cancun.- The entry of Mexico into Phase 3 of Covid-19 infection is inevitable, however, the Federal Health Secretariat ensures that the measures that have been taken so far are with the objective that the damage is slight in the country.
The official explained that Mexico is at the right moment to take preventive measures that allow it to lessen the impact of the third scenario of the spread of the virus.
«Once the epidemic curve, which is the number of daily cases, begins to grow exponentially, we can no longer stop, that is what is happening to Italy, Spain, several countries in Europe, it is happening to the United States» , explained the Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell Ramírez.
«Let me be very clear, Phase 3 is going to take place, but the important thing is that with the measures of healthy distance, if they are established in a disciplined manner and the greatest number of people do not go out, they stay at home, instead of having an immense epidemiological curve, which exceeds the capacity for attention, we are going to have a smaller curve, ”explained the official.
He explained that due to the way the virus spreads, it is not possible to implement these measures in a phased manner and it is essential that they are now strictly applied.
«Phase 3 is going to happen, it is the phase of maximum infection, it is the phase where the main risk is that the health system is saturated, despite the preparation we have,» warned the Undersecretary for Prevention and Promotion of health.
In this regard, the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, stated that all the measures that have been implemented in the country are to “enter the third stage slightly” of Covid-19 contagion.
