«It is urgent that teachers also care about the mental health of each of the students, knowing how they feel, what hurts them, what bothers them and what they need,» said Governor Layda Sansores San Román during the inauguration ceremony of the National Meeting of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet) that takes place today and tomorrow in the capital of Campeche, within the framework of the International Day against Violence and Harassment at School including Cyberbullying.

In the presence of authorities that are members of the Network, from France, Morocco, Qatar and Mexico, the Governor emphasized that now, with the joint strategies that the UNESCO Associated Schools Network will establish, children and young people will have the mechanisms that They will allow them to say how much work costs them, what hurts and hurts them.

«It is not an easy task, it is a titanic task because boys, girls and young people are silent, they do not report and then that is where we must begin to work, on their self-esteem, so that they feel safe, so that they do not allow themselves to be harmed. or that they harm other colleagues, «he said.

He pointed out that it is urgent that teachers also worry about the mental health of each of the students, know how they feel, what hurts them, what annoys them and based on this, begin to create strategies that prevent violence and harassment «Prevention is everything, because there is no cure for the pain caused by abuse and harassment, a mockery and contempt is never erased.»

Sansores San Román stressed that, although there is a long way to go on the subject, this seed that is planted today in Campeche is going to bear fruit, fruits that must be taken care of together so that, in the future, it becomes a strong spike. that withstands all crosswinds.

For her part, in her inaugural speech, the Secretary of Education and president of CONALMEX, Delfina Gómez Álvarez, highlighted that according to the NGO’s figures in Mexico, eight out of 10 children suffer some type of violence every day and bullying. Violence not only occurs physically, but also in social networks, infiltrating intimate spaces, influencing daily life and school performance.

«School violence and cyberbullying require the attention of everyone, specialists, teachers, school personnel and those who make up the three levels of government because only together through the participation of parents can we achieve better results,» he stressed. she.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of Education, Raúl Pozos Lanz, announced that in Campeche, by instruction of the Governor, the following actions will be initiated: the UNESCO representation in Mexico will be asked to coordinate efforts to hold a workshop where Present to the teachers the recommendations of the UNESCO Scientific Committee for the prevention of bullying and cyberbullying in schools, and with their approval, the document will be distributed to more than 17 thousand teachers.

The school authorities of basic education will be invited to include in their School Program for Continuous Improvement, a guideline to address and prevent school violence and all forms of harassment and teachers, parents, specialists, civil society and legislators to analyze the relevance of legislation on school coexistence, as support for actions to prevent and address violence and harassment in schools.

In a virtual way, educational authorities from France, Morocco and Mexico issued a message for the International Day against Violence and Harassment at School including Cyberbullying, agreeing that it is urgent to work in coordination between the 123 member states of UNESCO, the partners of the United Nations, civil society organizations and other stakeholders, to prevent and eliminate violence in the school environment, including cyberbullying.

From the multipurpose room of the UAC University Exhibition Center, Jean-Pierre Asvazadourian, ambassador of the French Republic in Mexico; Abdelfattah Lebbar, ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco in Mexico; Mohammed Alkuwari, ambassador of the State of Qatar in Mexico; and Juan José Bremer de Martino, permanent representative of Mexico to UNESCO, made clear the willingness of their governments to build an education that prevents conflicts, that is free of violence, and that is fair and inclusive for all.

At the end of the ceremony, the Governor signed the declaration for the Prevention of Violence and Harassment at School including Cyberbullying together with the representatives of UNESCO, France, Morocco, C Qatar and Mexico.
