COVID-19 IN MEXICO: MINISTRY OF HEALTH REPORTS 50 DEATHS AND 1,510 CONFIRMED CASES

The Ministry of Health (SSa) reported that as of this Thursday, April 2, there are 1,510 confirmed cases of COVID-19 coronavirus in Mexico.

In a press conference from the National Palace, José Luis Alomía, General Director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health, specified that 50 Mexicans have died from COVID-19.

As of today, the Ministry of Health is aware of 4,653 suspected cases of COVID-19, which await the results of the screening test; likewise, 7,822 cases have been ruled out.

By entity, Mexico City accumulates the majority of deaths with 14, while by age group, people over 65 are the most affected population, followed by those between 50 and 55 years.

In addition, most of the people who died had previous illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes and obesity, mainly.

In the case of Mexico, Mexico City is emerging as the place with the most cases of COVID-19 with 327 confirmed cases and an incidence rate of 3.6.

Of the total confirmed cases, 84 people are serious and deserved hospitalization (5.6%), while the critically ill people who had to be intubated are 15 (1%).
